General Physical Description:
- Appearance: Fine, crystalline, and free-flowing. High-quality refined salt should be free from visible impurities, dirt, or grit.
- Colour: Pure white. When dissolved in water (10g in 100ml), it should form a clear, Colourless solution.
- Texture/Grain: Uniform granulation. It should not contain hard lumps or be prone to caking (clumping), often achieved by adding anti-caking agents like Silicon Dioxide or Yellow Prussiate of Soda (YPS).
- Flavour/Aroma: Saline and odourless. The added iodine does not affect the taste or smell of the salt.
