General Physical Description:
  • Appearance: Small, slender pods with a very thin, smooth skin. It has a high seed content, which contributes to its intense pungency.
  • Colour: Vibrant, bright glossy red. It maintains its Colour well during storage.
  • Size: Typically 5 to 9 cm in length and 8 to 1.3 cm in breadth.
  • Stem Details:
    • With Stem: Pod includes the natural stalk.
    • Stemless: The stalk is pulled off manually (best for grinding and oil extraction).
    • Stem-Cut: The stalk is mechanically or manually cut, leaving only a tiny bit of the calyx.
  • Flavour/Aroma: Fierce, “biting” heat with a sharp, peppery aroma. It does not have the sweetness of Byadgi; its profile is purely pungent.
