General Physical Description:
- Appearance: Usually available as flat, irregular flakes or a coarse, gritty meal.
- Colour: Typically light brown to medium tan. It lacks the bright golden-yellow hue of DDGS because the pigments are concentrated in the gluten/starch portion of the kernel, not the germ.
- Texture: Dry and slightly abrasive. It is generally less “sticky” than Corn DDGS because the sugar and oil levels are lower.
- Odour: Mild, toasted grain aroma. It should be free from any sharp chemical smells (residual hexane) or musty odours.
- Purity: 100% corn by-product. It should be free from corn cobs, stalks, and foreign seeds.
